Halloween Excitement!
Halloween is just one week away! When you think of Halloween, there is a good chance that images of kids dressing in imaginative costumes, candy and decorations come to mind. It can be fun to reminisce about our childhood Halloween experiences, including going door-to-door collecting candy and sorting through the treasure at the end of the night. What a great and fun time to connect with your inner child!
Adults can have just as much fun on Halloween as any kid, especially when they learn to embrace their inner child and let them celebrate the exuberance and excitement of this holiday. With the right costume and your inner child’s spirit, you’ll feel just as excited as you did the very first time you dressed up. There are plenty of ways to let your inner child enjoy Halloween.
Halloween Movie
You could watch classic thrillers like Halloween or Candy Man or stick with the inner-child-theme and focus on more family-friendly films, like Hocus Pocus. Hocus Pocus II was just released as well. You might be able to find a local rendition of the Rocky Horror Picture Show, which is also a Halloween classic! You can choose to dress up or pick up some comfy, cozy Halloween pajamas from Target — either way, have fun and enjoy yourself.
Pumpkin Patch
Do a quick Google search to find the closest pumpkin patch. Most times, the pumpkin patch also offers hayrides, corn mazes, haunted trails or other fun activities. Make sure to enjoy a caramel apple, cider donut or your favorite childhood fall treat.
Carve a Jack-O-Lantern
When you return home from the pumpkin patch with your pumpkin haul, make sure to carve one or more of your pumpkins. After you carve your jack-o-lantern, you can roast your pumpkin seeds for a savory treat.
Trick or Treat
If you have any children in your life, embrace your free pass for trick-or-treating as an adult. Use this opportunity to dress up and recall the fun times you experienced trick-or-treating as a kid. If you don’t have children of your own, offer to babysit your friend’s children and take them trick-or-treating. You get to dress up, sneak a few pieces of candy, and gift their parents a night to themselves.
Eat Halloween Candy
Halloween isn’t Halloween without candy. Even if you don’t go trick-or-treating, go buy your favorite bag of Halloween candy and let yourself indulge just a bit. Trust me, your inner child will love it!
S’mores and Bonfire
Make a fire in the firepit and enjoy roasting marshmallows or even make some S’mores. You can make some awesome S’mores using Halloween candy such as Reese’s Peanut Butter cups or Snickers instead of just pain chocolate. Tap into your inner child and get creative!
Get Creative
It doesn’t matter how you celebrate this year, as long as you don’t forget the inner child within.
Embrace the innocent part of yourself that appreciates nothing more than a spooky good time. Whether you’re dressing up, staying home and watching a Halloween movie, or cozying up by the firepit, you’re bound to awaken the inner child that still needs time to play and enjoy Halloween.
As we get older, the adventure, playfulness and laughter that filled our lives as children tends to give way to the worries and responsibilities of adulthood. However, we need to remember to relive our best childhood moments and have fun!
Halloween can be a great time to let your inner child shine.
Happy Halloween,
