Experiential Therapy is an action-oriented model that goes beyond what many “talk” therapies access. Clients have the opportunity to express feelings and explore their own story. Learning how to self-regulate our body and our nervous system is an essential component to therapeutic work. Before we can do deep trauma healing, it's important to create safety in our body and understand how trauma impacts our body.

The relationships we had in childhood and adolescence created a template for us and informs how we show up with other people in our relationships today. It is common for individuals to have experiences as children that are left unprocessed and these unprocessed emotions, experiences, thoughts, feelings, and/or beliefs stay stored in the body, often causing our bodies (our nervous system) to become dysregulated.

Chronic dysregulation can affect one's life in many different ways such as feeling out of control and overwhelmed, inability to maintain relational connection, heightened stress responses, somatic symptoms possibly leading to chronic pain/illness, loss of sense of self and purpose, inability to focus and make decisions, and feeling stuck in anxiety or feeling shut down.

Goals of the group:

1. Understand and process how one's past is currently showing up in relationships.

2. Learn how to re-regulate one's nervous system in order to experience more connection, joy, and safety in relationships.

Participants will:

  • Learn self-regulation tools--these can be used to help participants feel grounded and supported

  • Explore how one's backstory continues to show up in current relationships

  • Learn how trauma stored in the body manifests in physical health symptoms

  • Connect their physical/body sensations to the origins in their own story

  • Create safe connection with other participants in the group

Cost of the group: $75 per week for 6 weeks.
